Is “broker” a dirty word? Because sometimes it feels that way.

Maybe it’s like any profession. There are good ones, and then there’s the few

bad apples that make it hard on all the rest.

But lately, when I go out into the transportation world, I get the distinct feeling

that broker is kind of a tarnished label.

Like the shady car salesman of the transportation industry.

Because brokering in the plain sense, is all about the transaction.

The money.

And unfortunately, clients just don’t trust that.

At a recent meeting, a client said something to me that’s becoming a familiar refrain.

“There’s over 15,000 brokers,” he said.

“And some days it seems like every one of them are trying to contact me.”

Holy-moly.

If I was a broker, I’d be panic-stricken. How many more clients feel that way?

And I’m not. A broker, I mean.

Because it’s not what the industry wants anymore.

It’s too risky treating transportation as a mere commodity.

There’s just no legs to it.

That kind of thinking isn’t going anywhere.

What we do… we focus on people. Relationships.

Going to incredible lengths to give clients what they need to succeed.

That’s not transactional. We don’t expect this for that.

We win when our clients win. And that can mean so many different things.

It’s about developing partnerships. Searching out & utilizing the latest technologies

for our clients’ business. They in turn, hold us accountable.

We communicate and mitigate risks.

All the things that don’t fit neatly into billable transactions.

But they do go a long way in building real trust. And great relationships.

Things that payoff big in the long run.

So, like I said. Don’t call us brokers.

We’re so much more.
