To forge a new American bond

In July of 1776, our Founding Fathers and 13 brave colonies came together

to do the work of forming a more perfect union.

And for 245 years, it has truly been the best idea of government on the planet.

But it’s not perfect. Nothing is. We strive to make it more perfect.

Today, many of our countryman can’t seem to work with many of their neighbors.

And that’s just not what this grand experiment is about.

It’s not about digging in your heels and saying no to everything.

It’s not about shooting people you disagree with.

Or storming the hallowed halls of democracy because you don’t

like the outcome of an election.

This is about one thing.

Seeing the unalienable right in others to exist. Everyone’s right to Life, Liberty

and the pursuit of Happiness. Everyone. All of us.

No matter their race, religion or country of origin.

It is in that spirit, the spirit of the original declaration of independence, that we

call on everyone this 4th of July to work together.

To build bridges, not walls.

To find common ground and common cause.

To put away your slights & aggrievements

To reach across the divide and see the patriot in everyone.

To mutually pledge to each other

Our Lives, our Fortunes, and our sacred Honor.

To forge a new American bond.

There are so many things pulling us apart.

Now let’s be the thing that brings us together.

We’re all here in the same country.

We all want the same things.

We’re on the same team.

United we stand. Divided we fall. Those are the choices.

I say, we come together and win.
